Julie Appel - Star Factor Coach​Julie Appel is a lawyer, social worker, author and coach whose recent work has focused on advising community college students on how to reach their full potential. Through her long and varied career, Julie has worked with students, cancer patients and has written multiple children’s books. She has co-authored a book with Dr. Robin Stern for the not-for-profit Think Equal, which educates preschoolers in emotional learning.

Julie holds an MSW from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, a Juris Doctor from Hofstra Law School and a B.A in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis. She is also certified as a Mediator by the New York City Bar Association and worked as a mediator in custody disputes in the New York City Family Court system.

Prior to becoming a Social Worker, Julie had a successful career as a partner in a New York City law firm. In addition, Julie is the co-author of the best selling children’s book series, Touch the Art. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Clearpool School and the Educational Alliance.

Julie lives in New York City with her husband and two children. Julie loves to spend time with her family, skiing, hiking and traveling.
