Jackquelyn H. Young
Star Factor Coach
“Each One, Teach One” is Jackie’s motto gleaned from an old African proverb. After an enjoyable career serving the NYC public schools as a teacher, principal, principal mentor, deputy superintendent, local instructional superintendent, network leader and ultimately Deputy CEO for Empowerment Schools, she worked with the Institute for Student Achievement as a School Leadership Coach. Jackie enjoys working with school leaders and asking questions that will guide them as they align the work they do with their mission and vision statements.
As she states, “Each of the roles I’ve served has given me the insight to understand the challenges educators face at all levels. What I love most about coaching is that it provides a safe space for leaders to talk about their successes and challenges and delve deeper into how their personality/actions impact the performance of those around them. An interesting fact is that my family traveled so much that I went to 16 different schools before I graduated from high school. It was a fascinating way to learn about people, their cultures and what makes each of us so unique – LOL!”
Jackie serves as Vice President and Curriculum Coordinator for G.O.O.D. for Girls, Inc., a faith-based mentoring organization for girls ages 9 – 18 that she helped found in 2010. She loves Praise, African and Jazz dancing and has taught and performed with several groups. She also loves to travel, read, build and repair things and is learning to play golf. Her best friend and soul mate is hubby Larry Young. Jackie gives thanks and praises to her God, who continues to bless her with the gift of love and life.
