Marisol Lockhart

Marisol Lockhart was raised in the Bronx, NY and developed a passion for learning instilled by her educator mother and supportive grandmother. After graduating from Vassar College, Marisol
was accepted to an early cohort of the New York City Teaching Fellows Program and began teaching in the Bronx in 2003. She became a teacher leader before earning her second master’s degree in educational leadership at the Bank Street College of Education, as a participant of the renowned Principal’s Institute. In 2010, she was hired as an assistant principal at a Bronx elementary/middle school in District 9, one of the highest need districts in the country, and she was instrumental to the school’s educational reform. Marisol has valued professional learning and leadership development opportunities throughout her career; in 2015, she attended a leadership institute at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. Since 2019, Marisol has been the principal of a Bronx elementary school in District 9, P.S. 110, Theodore Schoenfeld School. Marisol successfully advocated for her school to obtain New York State approval for a “community school” designation, which led to an expanded after-school program in the arts, social-emotional learning, and leadership, as well as additional resources for students and families. During her principalship, she has transformed the school community by focusing on a shared vision for educational excellence, developing high quality professional learning, enhancing the educational experience through partnerships, and collaborating with various stakeholders while coaching and empowering others. Marisol was also recommended to join the Gray Fellowship for Principal Excellence, a highly regarded leadership program in NYC public schools, in 2020. Through fellowship coaching, she met and was mentored by Dr. Janet Patti and Dr. Robin Stern, achieving leadership coaching certification in emotional intelligence with Star Factor Coaching in June of 2022. Marisol has presented at conferences and panels, including those hosted by the Institute for Education Innovation, the New York State Association for Women in Administration, and the International Society for Emotional Intelligence in Mexico City. Due to her accomplishments in the field, she was admitted into Marquis Who’s Who in America in 2024. In her free time, Marisol enjoys reading, the arts, traveling, and spending quality time with her husband, loved ones, and dog.
