Lorna Lewis

Dr. Lorna Lewis began her career as a physics and mathematics teacher and has served in various administrative capacities on Long Island, including as superintendent of The East Williston UFSD, Plainview Old Bethpage CSD and Malverne UFSD. She has served as a past president of the New York State Council of School Superintendents (NYSCOSS).

An outspoken voice for inclusion and equity in public education, Dr. Lorna Lewis is a founding member of NYSCOSS Commission on Diversity and Inclusivity and co-chaired the Curriculum Committee.She has been the recipient of various awards to recognize her contributions to education, and has keynoted at conferences for NYSSBA and LIASCD. She recently served as a steering committee member for the NYSED Blue Ribbon Commission to create new graduation requirements for NYS schools.

For the past three years she has served as a coach for the Women of Color Collaborative (WOCEC) to support leaders in schools. She is a past-president of LIASCD and serves on the board of ERASE Racism.
