consultant for small businesses and not-for-profits.
She holds numerous coaching and emotional intelligence certifications
and is a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching

Laurie’s coaching philosophy is based on evidence-based theories of emotional intelligence, leadership, positive psychology and neuroscience. It is also informed by her extensive leadership development experience in the corporate, academic, and non-profit sectors, and by her education, which includes an MA in Organizational Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University and a B.A. in Communications from The University of New Hampshire.
At Star Factor, Laurie is a trusted coaching partner where she adopts a strengths-based approach to coaching, enabling people to access their strengths and best selves. Laurie is highly intuitive and personable in her coaching style. She brings empathy and supportive challenge to help individuals and teams gain greater insight about themselves and the actions needed to achieve their goals. Her clients become aware of new possibilities, gain new tools, and realize positive change for themselves, their teams, and their organizations by taking more effective actions. She also conducts Star Factor coaching certifications and is an advisor on the process.
Her career in leadership and emotional intelligence started at American Express where she was trained in the Financial Advisor’s Emotional Competence program to help managers to become “emotional coaches” for their direct reports and more fully appreciate the role that emotion plays in the work place. She continued to cultivate her career in leadership and coaching at Prudential Financial, and Korn/Ferry Leadership and Talent Consulting, and it culminated at the Yale School of Management as a full-time faculty member. At SOM she taught leadership, emotional intelligence and peer coaching. She designed and established executive and leadership coaching for all of SOM’s MBA programs, as well as executive education programs.
In addition to her work with Star Factor and Yale SOM, she serves as an executive coach for the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, working with faculty, as well as with students in the MBA and executive programs.
